Objective:
Provides steps for troubleshooting and resolving errors related to Windows updates.
Steps:
For Windows 10:
Run the Windows Update Troubleshooter:
- Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot.
- Select Additional troubleshooters and then choose Windows Update. Run the troubleshooter to detect and fix issues.
Clear the Software Distribution Folder:
- Open File Explorer, go to C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution, and delete the contents to clear cached update files.
- Open File Explorer, go to C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution, and delete the contents to clear cached update files.
Check for System File Corruption:
- Open Command Prompt as Administrator and run
sfc /scannow
to scan for and repair corrupted files.
- Open Command Prompt as Administrator and run
Restart and Recheck Updates:
- Restart your PC and go back to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update to check for updates.

For Windows 11:
Run the Windows Update Troubleshooter:
- Go to Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters and select Windows Update.
- Go to Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters and select Windows Update.
