Objective:
Explains how to check for, download, and install macOS updates and upgrades to keep your system secure and up to date.
Steps:
Open System Preferences (macOS 11-13) or System Settings (macOS 14+):
- For macOS 11–13, go to Apple menu > System Preferences > Software Update.
- For macOS 14+, go to Apple menu > System Settings > General > Software Update.
Check for Updates:
- The system will automatically check for updates. If an update is available, click Update Now to install it.
- The system will automatically check for updates. If an update is available, click Update Now to install it.
Install an Upgrade (New macOS Version):
- If a new macOS version is available, click Upgrade Now to start the upgrade process.
- If a new macOS version is available, click Upgrade Now to start the upgrade process.
Set Automatic Updates (Optional):
- In Software Update, check Automatically keep my Mac up to date to enable automatic downloads and installations.
