Objective:
Explains how to adjust security and privacy settings to protect personal information and ensure safe app usage on macOS.

Steps:

  1. Open Security & Privacy Settings:

    • Go to Apple menu > System Preferences > Security & Privacy (or System Settings > Privacy & Security on macOS 14+).

  2. Set FileVault Encryption:

    • Under the FileVault tab, turn on FileVault to encrypt your startup disk and protect data in case of theft.

  3. Manage Firewall Settings:

    • In the Firewall tab, turn on the firewall to block unauthorised incoming connections. Click Firewall Options to customise rules for specific apps.

  4. Control App Permissions:

    • Under the Privacy tab, manage app permissions for access to location, camera, microphone, and other data. Enable or disable permissions based on your preferences.

  5. Enable “Find My Mac”:

    • Go to System Preferences > Apple ID > iCloud and enable Find My Mac to locate your Mac if it’s lost.
