Objective:
Explains how to use the OneDrive section in Microsoft Teams on a Mac to locate and remove shortcuts that may disrupt folder sync.
Steps:
Step 1: Open Microsoft Teams and Access the OneDrive Section
Launch Microsoft Teams:
- Open Microsoft Teams from the Applications folder or Dock on your Mac.
Go to OneDrive:
- In the left sidebar, click on OneDrive. This section displays all files and folders in your OneDrive, including any shortcuts from Teams.
- In the left sidebar, click on OneDrive. This section displays all files and folders in your OneDrive, including any shortcuts from Teams.
Step 2: Locate and Remove Shortcuts
Identify Shortcut Folders:
- In the OneDrive view, look for folders marked with a chain link/arrow icon or labelled as “shortcut.” These shortcuts can cause sync issues with OneDrive.
Remove the Shortcut:
- Right-click on the shortcut folder and select Remove shortcut. This action deletes only the shortcut link without affecting the original files or folders in the Team or SharePoint.
- Right-click on the shortcut folder and select Remove shortcut. This action deletes only the shortcut link without affecting the original files or folders in the Team or SharePoint.
Step 3: Verify Sync Status in the OneDrive Sync Agent
Check OneDrive Sync Agent:
- Click on the OneDrive icon in the menu bar (usually near the clock at the top right of your screen). This will open the OneDrive sync agent.
Look for Sync Status:
- In the sync agent, check for any messages or alerts indicating that sync is complete. If there are issues, the sync agent will usually display an error or “Sync Pending” status next to the affected folders.
- You may need to wait for a few minutes for the removal of the shortcut to be picked up by the system, and sync to start back up again.
Restart OneDrive if Necessary:
- If issues persist, click on the OneDrive icon, select Quit OneDrive, and reopen it from the Applications folder to restart the sync process.
